The Telegraph realises that Francis Maude is important

by Peter Smith on July 26, 2010

It’s good to see the national press (the Telegraph) catching up with what we said here weeks ago; Francis Maude has collected a very impressive range of responsibilities into the Cabinet Office and his Eficiency and Reform group, including some with huge implications for public procurement.

We said this a month ago: “Francis Maude will have his fingers in many important pies, and is going to be a very powerful man.”

And as we said when the Structural Reform Plan came out, he has taken on some huge tasks with very specific deliverables and delivery dates.  He is therefore going to be a hero of the coalition if it all works out or will crash and burn; I don’t see any half way house given the magnitude and difficulty of the tasks he has set himself.
